En Guard!

Museum Replicas has been a fun site for me to work on. I have managed the SEO of the site, and tried to get it to show up with highly competitive keywords like swords, and armor. I didn’t realize how competitive a market Museum Replicas was involved in. LARPing (participating in Live Action Role Play) is a big deal, and having the right gear is important. Not only do they manufacture swords for renaissance fairs accessories, but they also manufacture historical, and movie replicas. In the short period of working with this site, my team was able to increase organic traffic from Google by 16%, and non-branded keywords like swords and armor, saw increases of 700-3000% from Google. That is a big increase when talking about thousands of visitors.

Craftiness Increases My Crafitness

My wife, who was obviously jealous of the success of my awesome blog Simplified Geek, strong armed me (in her wifely way), to get a craft site together for her and a friend. Because of the unique needs of a “mommy blogger,” this site has giving me a chance to further enhance my webmaster skills, as well experiment on ways to drive traffic, including social media. Because Anne (my wonderful wife), is so teachable to my excellent SEO lessons, Floral Showers is generating quite the amount of fans and readers.

A Little Hobby for Me

It ain’t much, but I call it home. Okay that may be extreme, but Simplified Geek is a little website I put together for my friends and I. This is where we host a awesome blog and podcast about consumer electronics, shiny expensive toys, and whether Apple is really better than Microsoft (I am pretty certain of the fact, but I still try to convince Evan). This has been a great way to further my webmaster skills, and has become a “playground” for me to experiment with social media marketing and other web targeted traffic tactics.

A “Sweet” Suite of Web Solutions

The concept of Site Riser was the main reason the brand transition of Riser Media took place. Site Riser was the first “productized” service that Jandaco wanted to offer. I was asked shortly after being hired by Jandaco, I was asked to manage the development of Site Riser. I was tasked with the goal to find a suitable market, run an extensive competitive analysis, and create a marketing strategy to obtain local clients who wanted to take advantage of a very competitively priced website. I managed the production of a SAAS (software as a service) version of Site Riser which was later shelved because of time restraints.

Complete Set of Riser Services

While developing a brand for Site Riser, we found other types of products to expand our offerings to our clients. Like Site Riser the idea was to increase profits and customer satisfaction with quicker turn key type services. Host Riser, a line up of web hosting solutions, and Code Riser, a pre-built web engine solution, were both developed for this purpose. I managed the brand development for each one of these the services, and managed the development of each website. Since leaving the company Riser Media has launched two additional products based off this model, Print Riser and Logo Riser.

We’ll Rise Together

Before Riser Media became what it is today, the company went by the name Jandaco. Shortly after being hired by the premier design and development agency, Jandaco was about to have a major uplift and rebrand itself as a serious force in the web design industry. I had the privilege of managing the brand transition from Jandaco to Riser Media. My responsibility included managing the development of the new website, establishing the position of the new brand separating the differences between Riser Media services and the new line up of “productized” services being developed simultaneously.

Launching Riser Media

To ensure a smooth launch of the of the new brand without shock to the current “high profile” clients that we had much preparation was done for the transition. Email campaigns where developed for our existing clients that we where still here to take care of them. “No, we didn’t get bought out. We just had a better idea.” was the the messages that was enthusiastically received. In addition to the email campaign, I developed a PPC campaign to help drive new traffic to the brand new website, and stir “fresh blood” for Riser Media. On December 31, 2008, Riser Media launched with its complete suite of product services, Host Riser, Site Riser, and Code Riser.
